Care & Maintenance Questions
How do I care for weathered teak outdoor furniture?
- To clean your weathered teak furniture, begin by fully washing down your teak frames with a hose or power washer to remove loose debris. Allow your furniture to fully dry before using.
- As a natural wood, grade A teak expands and contracts with fluctuations in weather. Contracting wood can cause hairline fractures at joints, the weathered finish, and in the teak wood itself, none of which impact the structural integrity of the furniture.
- To keep your grade A teak furniture and Sunbrella® cushions looking their best, we recommend utilizing outdoor furniture covers to protect your furniture when not in use.
What is the best way to care for natural grade A teak outdoor furniture?
- All teak furniture must be wiped down with a wet towel prior to use. Please do not place cushions on the items prior to wiping them down and do not sit on them. Each and every piece is handcrafted from Grade-A Teak, which is a natural wood and could secrete some of its natural oils. This is applicable to any and all teak items
- Grade A teak is prized for its beautiful grain and blue grey patina that develops over time. With a little extra care, furniture made with this material can last for decades. Because it is a natural material, we recommend routine maintenance and care for these types of products. We recommend cleaning it seasonally for best results.

- As a natural wood, grade A teak expands and contracts with fluctuations in weather. Contracting wood can cause hairline fractures at joints and in the teak wood itself, none of which impact the structural integrity of the furniture.
- Grade A teak furniture is full of natural oils that allow your furniture to be outdoor-approved. When grade A teak patinas over time, these natural oils can rise up to the surface, causing the sun to burn the oil and turn the furniture grey in the process. If you would prefer to maintain your grade A teak furniture’s golden hue, simply take 220 grit sandpaper and sand the furniture down, removing the patina with the direction of the grain. Then apply one of many commonly available teak furniture seals and allow to dry.
- To keep your grade A teak furniture and Sunbrella® cushions looking their best, we recommend utilizing outdoor furniture covers to protect your furniture when not in use.
What's the best way to care for aluminum outdoor furniture?
- Our powder coated aluminum is designed to withstand tough climates but we recommend occasional cleaning for best results.
- To clean, start by giving your furniture a good rinse with a garden hose or power washer. Make a solution of mild soap and water*, then apply to the furniture with a sponge or soft brush. For stubborn spots, use a stiffer bristle brush or a power washer to scrub. Rinse with a hose or power washer and allow to dry thoroughly before use.
*Harsh chemicals risk damaging the finish of powder coated aluminum so cleaning is best attacked with a mild soap, such as Dawn®. - If you’d like to further protect your powder coated aluminum, consider applying a car wax. Apply the wax to freshly cleaned furniture, then buff off the residue.
- We also recommend using outdoor furniture covers when not in use to limit the amount of cleaning needed.
What is the best way to care for wicker outdoor furniture?
- Our handwoven, all-weather rattan and wicker furniture requires little maintenance. Because each piece is woven from HDPE (high-density polyethylene) material, this type of furniture is resistant to mold, mildew, sagging, and breaking, unlike traditional wooden rattan and wicker furniture.
- To care for your rattan and wicker pieces, thoroughly wet the furniture with a garden hose. Prepare a gentle mixture of a mild soap, such as Dawn®, and water, and apply to the furniture pieces with a soft bristle brush, taking care to remove any loose debris between the woven material. Then, rinse, and allow to dry fully before use.
- To keep your furniture looking brand new, we recommend using outdoor furniture covers when not in use.
What is the maintenance required for rope outdoor furniture?
- Our all-weather rope is handwoven around powder-coated aluminum frames, providing a lightweight yet durable product.
- Caring for our all-weather rope is fairly simple and does not involve much maintenance. Simply brush off visible debris with a soft cloth or soft bristle brush.
- If your furniture requires further cleaning, thoroughly wet down furniture pieces with a garden hose or power washer. Apply a mild solution of a gentle soap, such as Dawn®, mixed with water with a sponge and rinse. Allow furniture to fully dry before use.
- To keep your furniture looking pristine, we recommend utilizing outdoor furniture covers when not in use.
Is there maintenance on Sunbrella fabric outdoor cushions?
- We are proud to offer 100% Sunbrella® cushions, an industry-leader in outdoor fabrics. Sunbrella® is a 100% solution-dyed acrylic, resisting mold, mildew, staining, and fading.
- You can remove dirt and loose debris from your cushions with a soft bristle brush.
- While Sunbrella® cushions are mildew resistant, debris and dirt carrying spores that create mold and mildew can attach to the fabric. To combat this, remove wet cushions from furniture frames. After a heavy rain, stand your cushions on their sides to encourage quick and full water drainage.
- For regular cleaning of your Sunbrella® cushions, remove your cushions from their furniture frames and place on a clean, dry surface. Thoroughly Dwell Retreat your cushions with a garden hose, or a power washer if your cushions are quite dirty. Apply a mild bleach solution (1 part bleach to 20 parts water) to the cushions, regardless of their color. (Sunbrella® cushions cannot lose their color through bleach.) Rinse with a garden hose or power washer and allow to dry thoroughly before use. To fully dry, we recommend turning cushions on their side.
- To ensure your outdoor furniture and cushions always look their best, we recommend utilizing outdoor furniture covers when not in use.
